As a Solutions Engineering Lead, you would be part of an elite team working directly with Sales Area Vice Presidents, Solution Engineers and Fortune 1000 customers to organize and manage a geography, and as an SE identify a database solution. You would also be on the front line of our sales team in a dynamic, high-energy environment.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Craft effective strategies with the Area Vice President to effectively organize and manage a geography-based Solution Engineering team.

  • Coach, mentor and provide training on new skills to Solution Engineers in presales best practices and being a Trusted Advisor

  • Craft effective strategies with the Account Executive to direct sales into Fortune 500 companies

  • Qualify customers' requirements and needs, and effectively articulate DataStax' ability to meet these needs

  • Maximize DataStax’ success through effective product positioning, as well as mentoring and supporting partners

  • Successfully manage proof of technologies through documenting and achieving success criteria

  • Collect customer feedback and delivering it to the product team

  • Create presentations and demos for customers that highlight the capabilities and operational simplicity of DataStax products

  • Customize and adapt presentations for both small and large audiences, and for audiences with differing levels of tech experience

  • Provide feedback to the Product Management Team

  • 12 or more years as an established Solution Engineer (or similar technical pre-sales role)

  • 5 or more years as a proven, experienced Solution Engineering Manager/Lead (or similar presales role)

  • As a part of the Presales Leadership team you will be responsible for designing and delivering pre-sales initiatives in partnership with other presales leaders and executives

  • Proven track record of building high-performance presales teams supporting key high-profile accounts

  • Experience with Linux

  • Exposure to coding with Java, C#, Python, or Scala

  • Experience with traditional RDBMS including Data Modeling, performance tuning, and configuration.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and presentation skills

  • Strong ability to create and deliver presentations at the executive level for both prospect facing and internal

  • Able to travel up to 50% of the time

  • Experience with DataStax Enterprise (DSE), Apache Cassandra, Apache Solr, Apache Spark, or Graph Databases (e.g. DSE Graph, Titan, Neo4)

  • Knowledge of datacenter architecture in a production environment

  • Knowledge of multi-datacenter / global deployments and distributed architectures
