Cert Surgical Tech First Assis Req #: 30083771SO214 Category: Technologists Technicians Facility: Beaumont Hospital FH Department: Surgery Schedule: Part time Shift: DaysHours: Flexible Job Details:GENERAL SUMMARY:The certified surgical technologist first assistant (CSTFA) is an individual, other than a physician, who assists the surgeon in the performance of approved surgical procedures, and who works under the direct supervision of and by the request of the operating surgeon. The assistant does not concurrently serve as the scrub personnel for the surgical procedure.STANDARD QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Education / Training: Graduate of surgical technologist program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs.B. Work Experience:Requires a minimum of successful completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program with positive references from instructors if a new graduate. Military training with surgical scrub experience may be accepted.A minimum of six months to one-year surgical tech experience is preferred.C. Certification, Licensure, Registration: Possess Surgical Technologist Certification (CST) as offered by the Association of Surgical Technologists. Completion of an accredited Surgical Tech First Assistant Program and shall achieve Surgical Tech First Assistant Certification (CSTFA) within two years of completing first assistant course.
