About the Opportunity

This is an open position with Met-Ed, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corporation. [ME]

Responsibilities include:

  • Modeling and forecasting available resource hours and assist Project Managers with monthly financialforecasting.

  • Compiling, analyzing, and comparing known and anticipated work with the planned resources availability.

  • Identifying gaps in work resources.

  • Attend and participate in forecasting meetings with operating company leadership, as well as monthlyplanning meetings.

  • Create / update / maintain budgets and forecasts

  • Working with Project Management Specialists/Engineers and Work Management personnel to develop andupdate the project schedules and financial forecasts in the project (RPA) database

  • Perform variance analysis for both project costs and man-hours

  • Providing a high level of service, continuous support and proactive involvement to leadership and peers.

  • Conducting business-specific research and analyzing data, interpreting results and assisting inimplementation activities when necessary.

  • Providing sound customer service by exceeding customer needs.

  • Contributing to solutions by taking the initiative in developing alternatives and recommendations.

  • Providing ideas and suggestions to improve moderately complex work processes and/or projects.

  • Actively seeking ways to build, challenge, and add value within scope of assignments.

  • Developing and completing stakeholder analysis.

  • Independently anticipating and meeting internal/external customer needs.

  • Anticipating and delivering consistent results with the ability to work independently, focused on committeddeadlines, regardless of business hours, with end goal in mind.

  • Work overtime as needed.

Business-Unit Specific Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the Met-Ed Long Term Infrastructure Improvement Plan (LTIIP) project tracking by working closelywith Project Managers, Sub, Line, and Engineering Management and Supervision.

  • Contribute to strategic planning regarding the use of internal vs. contracted labor based on projectedworkloads and project needs.

  • Provide financial reporting as requested by Rates and Regulatory regarding the LTIIP spend.

  • Assist with the development and presentation of the annual capital budget process.

  • Provide assistance during emergencies and storm-related activities and travel to various off-site locations,as well as FirstEnergy office locations, training facilities and customer sites, when requested.

The level of supervision required to complete the responsibilities and complexity of assignments willdifferentiate between the Business Analyst and Advanced Business Analyst.

Qualifications at the Business Analyst level include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline preferred with minimum 4 years professional work experiencerequired.

  • An advanced degree or professional certification preferred

  • In lieu of a degree, High School diploma or GED required with minimum 7 years professional workexperience required. The experience must be at a professional (exempt) level which also includes datareporting, analysis, costing and recommendations, along with an in-depth understanding of the subject matter

  • Aptitude to learn and apply knowledge to all aspects of the position. Be able to develop good workingrelationships with other groups as a team player with strong attention to detail and analytical ability.

  • Extremely proficient with Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, PowerPoint and Word.

  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.

  • In-depth understanding of applicable products and/or services and of customer needs and expectations

  • Possess a sound knowledge of various researching techniques.

  • Desire to continue to learn and grow, work across FirstEnergy and deliver result.

  • Excellent analytical abilities.

  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with employees at all levels of FirstEnergy.

  • Deliver quality, accurate work within established deadlines.

  • Proficient or the ability to learn and be proficient with the use of the RPA, SAP, CREWS, QlikView, UIPlanner, and Ad-Hoc report writing preferred.

  • Understanding of Transmission, Substation and Distribution construction practices and processes, includingresource capabilities.

  • Must have a personal vehicle to commute to various facilities and locations as required, possessing a valid

driver’s license.

Qualifications at the Advanced Business Analyst level include all of the above plus:

  • BA/BS degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering or related discipline with 7-10years of professional work experience. Advanced degree a plus.

  • An advanced degree or professional certification is preferred

  • In lieu of a degree, High School diploma or GED required with 10 years professional work experiencerequired. The experience must be at a professional (exempt) level which also includes data reporting,analysis, costing and recommendations, along with an in-depth understanding of the subject matter.

  • Expected to have a high level of knowledge of the position’s responsibilities, take more initiative andtherefore require less supervision.

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage several competing assignments in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experienced participant on special project teams.

  • Ability to make noticeable contributions toward improving programs and process effectiveness.
