Job Description

Maintenance Superintendent. Continental Tire the Americas, LLC (Mount Vernon, IL) Assign, review and monitor division capital request concepts, writing, approval, execution, and spending forecast, and ensure proper machine acceptance and project closure documentation, under direction of Lead Engineer. Analyze data obtained from Reliability Engineers and Project Engineers on the effectiveness of machines, and organize preventive maintenance measures to eliminate breakdowns, repairs, and shutdown work of machines within assigned maintenance division. Coordinate discussions between client department, plant management and staff to decrease lost time, machine up time/efficiency, cost of spare parts used, and labor and scrap reduction related to machine mechanical and electrical breakdowns. Oversee electrical or mechanical modifications and upgrades of machines to improve efficiency within assigned maintenance division. Participate in the selection, management and control of all work-related activities applicable to the work of outside contractors participating in projects within assigned division. Coordinate capital request for procuring funds to align with investment plans, and provide spending forecasts for both investment and expense budgets. Coordinate and plan improvement activities with planners, Reliability Engineers and Project Engineers to ensure both equipment reliability and the successful execution of investment plans. Communicate with the production customer and other departments serviced by the Engineering and Maintenance division to control costs, budgets and expenses.

Job Requirements

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or Industrial Technology or related and three (3) years manufacturing systems or maintenance systems experience. In lieu of degree, employer will accept six (6) years manufacturing systems or maintenance systems experience. The experience must include (3 years if Bachelors, 6 years if no degree): manufacturing engineering; Siemens S5, Siemens PCS7, and S7 PLCs; Beckhoff Twincat PLC; Siemens Drives; leading electrical and mechanical engineers in the manufacturing industry; and working with cross-cultural teams. Must be on call 24/7 and work any shift (A-Shift, B-Shift, C-Shift), as needed. Must participate in telephone conferences with other time zones (e.g. China).
