Instructional Technologist - Responsible for supporting project-based instructional design, development, and support for faculty in the development of online courses and the use of academic technology for student learning. Responsibilities include analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation of instructor-led, web-based curricula; draft storyboards and mock-ups; write and develop rich training content; create simple course visuals / illustrations; and support industry standard protocols, best practices, and distance learning technologies, including the use of accessibility, copyright, and Universal Design for Learning. Will collaborate and work virtually on multiple concurrent projects, and must be able to produce work according to established project plans/timelines and deliver qualitative outcomes-based, timely results.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

Strong technical skills in a variety of multimedia and web applications. Knowledge of best practices of ADA - Accessability, Fair Use, Intellectual Property, and Copyright compliance to e-learning. Demonstrated application of adult learning principles, development methodologies, constructivism, facilitation, and learner-centered activities. Experience recommending procedures and methods for effective instruction. Proven knowledge of rubrics and course assessments. Applied experience in instructional design and curriculum development including online learning and instruction, program development and assessment. Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills with high attention to detail. Proven ability to create and maintain accurate documentation. Demonstrated skills in project management. Ability to prioritize, schedule and meet deadlines for multiple concurrent design and development projects, from inception to completion, working independently and within a team with minimal guidance. Highly-developed critical thinking skills and strong problem-solving ability.

MINIMUM EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s Degree in Instructional Technology, Instructional Design or related field, or equivalent experience. Master’s Degree preferred. Three years current experience in instructional design and adult learning theory, designing and creating online / blended instructional materials / content in higher education. Expereince with the following: Learning Management Systems (preferably Desire2Learn), Web-based Instructional Technologies (HTML5, CSS, Camtasia), E-learning Authoring Platforms (Lectora, Captivate), Graphics Programs (Photoshop, Illustrator), multimedia technologies, and SCORM compliancy. Demonstrated success in developing effective training and performance support materials that include a high level of graphic and interactive media. Proficiency using instructional design tools such as training project plans, design documents, storyboards, prototypes, etc. Higher education instructional design experience is preferred. Experience with multi-cultural students and staff preferred.
